November & December Income Report and Year in Review

IntroductionDecember Income Report Pin

Though I haven’t published as many blog posts this past month, I’ve been working a lot on the blog:

Particularly the Google accelerated mobile pages (AMP) version of my site.

AMP is Google’s stripped-down, blazing-fast, mobile-optimized website version.

Google gives a boost to AMP optimized sites in search results.

But that’s not why I’m focusing on it.

Twitter has caught on to using AMP.

So if you’ve optimized your WordPress site for AMP, Twitter will send its mobile traffic to the AMP version of your content.

Since Twitter is currently one of my primary traffic drivers, I was glad to get AMP up and running on my blog.

If you use Twitter to drive traffic to your WordPress blog, be sure to check out my updated Twitter guide.

Besides explaining how to grow a large Twitter following from scratch, I also show you how to set up AMP for your site.

Now let’s get down to my side-hustle revenue the past couple of months.

Year to Date Put Selling Profit: $108.12 (realized) $251 (unrealized)

Year to Date (unrealized) Put Selling Loss: $803.04 if I liquidated the stock put to me on 2 positions. However, I’m planning on selling covered calls on these positions.

Cryptocurrency profit: I’ve realized $469 of profit and I have an unrealized gain of approximately $1063.

November survey profit: $150

Selling Put Options: Why I Bought a $4,000 Financial Product from James Altucher

James Altucher

Welcome to James Altucher’s Secret Income Starter Kit – Choose Yourself Financial

It’s been a wild ride selling put options.

I’ve held 24+ option positions in the past quarter with unrealized gains sometimes in the thousands.

And as you may have read in my September and October income reports, I spent $529 on an investment product from James Altucher for his option selling picks.

Not only does he provide you with his investment choices, he also provides some stellar educational resources.

I increased my investment in Altucher products this year thanks to a healthy Christmas bonus.

In fact:

I bought the ultimate Altucher product – access to all his current and future financial products for life!

I believe in Altucher.

I’ve been consuming his content for years now and I think he really knows his stuff.

I also think my investment will pay for itself within the year.

But this month, I haven’t sold many options.

I’ve been transferring my wife’s and my assets from our Vanguard accounts to Interactive Brokers.

Vanguard is great for passive investment in their index funds, but they hammer you with fees if you want to trade actively.

But Interactive Brokers is a sophisticated trading platform with low fees built for higher volume trading.

I’m excited to have the freedom to trade actively at Interactive Brokers with low fees.

How I made $150 in 2 Hours Participating in a Google survey

I signed up for Google User Experience surveys years ago in college and they just recently contacted me about an opportunity.

I had to sign a non-disclosure agreement so I can’t tell you what we talked about.

But I can tell you that 4 Google employees came to my apartment for a couple of hours and asked my wife and me some questions.

I got paid with a $150 visa gift card in the mail a couple of weeks later.

All in all, it was a fun experience and one I would gladly do as frequently as needed.

So sign up at the link above if you’re interested.

It’s worth it.

How I Nearly Tripled my Money with Cryptocurrencies in 3 Months

Thanks to Altucher’s cryptocurrency product, I finally feel like I understand the basics of cryptos and what drives their value.

I bought into cryptos thanks to Altucher’s advice before I even owned his crypto product.

It was a lucky time to buy since they experienced a massive rally just after I purchased.

I’m excited about cryptocurrency.

And I believe it’s one of those once in a lifetime opportunities to build generational wealth.

I recommend doing whatever you need to do to feel comfortable investing in them.

2017 Year in Review

What a whirlwind of a year!

I launched this blog with Matt Tsai.

We co-authored two Amazon e-books.

We parted ways on the blog.

I re-started Wear Primal – a paleo themed clothing line.

I shut it down due to limited interest.

I attempted to drive traffic to my blog with SEO.

And I attempted to drive traffic to my blog with social media.

As you can tell, focus wasn’t my strong-suit this year.

I’m going to try to do better focusing next year.

Focusing on what exactly?

Check out the next section to find out.

My Focus for 2018

In 2018 I’m going all in on this blog.

Sure I’m going to be taking full advantage of James Altucher’s financial products:

Buying and selling cryptocurrency, stocks, options, and more.

But I’m not going to attempt new businesses – only the occasional side-hustle.

I plan on limiting my active side-hustles and focusing on passive side hustles.

And I’m also going to focus more on creating video content.

The Specifics of My Blog Strategy for 2018

Here’s my strategy to make my blog profitable in a nutshell:

Social growth -> blog traffic -> email signups -> sales

Why am I focusing on social media growth to drive blog traffic instead of SEO?

Social media seems like less of a zero-sum game to me.

While no two websites can have the number one search result for a given query (SEO), countless people can have massive social media sway in the same niche.

Since Pinterest and Facebook are the top two social media platforms for sharing blog posts, that’s where I’m going to spend most of my time.

But I plan on maintaining my Instagram and Twitter growth.

Video in 2018

If you’re plugged into the internet marketing scene, you know that video is hot right now.

This should come as no surprise.

Pros like Brian Dean, Neil Patel, and Gary Vaynerchuk have been ramping up their video focus and creation for a while now.

So how am I going to introduce video content?

I plan on trying out a daily vlog.

I don’t think I could maintain an every day pace.

But I might be able to maintain a weekday pace.

And I hope to introduce this content on either Facebook or YouTube (haven’t decided which one yet)

I may even pull a Gary Vee and cut it up into snippets to share across other platforms.

We’ll see.

Thanks for following the blog in 2017.

I can’t wait to bring you even better content in 2018.
